Ende Januar 1986 kommt es an der Glienicker Brücke zu einem spektakulären Austausch von Spionen zwischen den USA und der Sowjetunion. Das Ereignis ist auch der Weltpresse bekannt geworden, die sich in beheizten Wohnmobilen tagelang an der Königstraße darauf eingerichtet hat.

I was one of the first people to enter the DDR after the collapse of the wall from the UK on a trade mission sponsored by the NEDC. Most of the wall was intact; I saw the final changing of the Soviet Guard in East Berlin and the subsequent sale of memorabilia at the Brandenburg Gate.

Das hatte immer einen Hauch von James Bond !
